What Does Boutique Mean To You?

Posted in Blog

I’m speaking of course about the drinks trade only Boutique RumFest being held on the Friday before RumFest weekend.  There may well have been a little confusion arising over the last week or two – so let me explain a little about what you might expect to enjoy at Boutique RumFest.

It’s gonna be a Carnival at RumFest this year!

Posted in Blog

For those that visited RumFest last year, you can’t fail to have noticed the amazing carnival vibe as you entered the main hall at Olympia.  It’s difficult to miss the loud soca music and the ladies and gents in full carnival costume after all!

Well this year, the plan is to go bigger and better, so we caught up with Kelly and Andrew, the driving force behind the brilliant Mas Band: Bacchanalia to ask them what RumFest meant to them and what they had in mind for this year’s party!

The Perfect Cure for a Cold and Dreary Autumn

So the summer is at an end and September is about to give way to a cold and dreary October but take heart...  October means its RumFest time again!

A whole year of amazing fun with rum has passed since I first wrote on the RumFest blog, but as good as the last year was – I just know it’s going to get a whole lot better in the next few weeks.  Now, just so you know – I don’t work for the RumFest team (I write a Rum Blog of my own: TheFloatingRumShack.com) but I’ve been to every RumFest so far (except the very first) and I think I’m as qualified as anyone to help you have a seriously great time at RumFest – so that’s what I’m going to do!

Matching wine to a meal

Posted in Blog

M&S WineIf you're hosting a dinner party and want to serve the perfect accompaniment of beverages to your dishes, it's sometimes difficult to narrow down which drink matches which flavour in one particular category; wine. However, if you learn how to get it spot on, you may find that the meal not only goes down better, but you will learn more about complimentary flavours, benefiting you as a chef.

Some will argue that it doesn't matter, that wine doesn't need to match your dish as long as you're enjoying the flavours of both - this is absolutely true, but if you're not keen on the idea of cleansing your palette between drinking and eating, you may find that the tastes of the pair clash in your mouth, which can be somewhat unpleasant. However, match the two, and the result is wonderful, a symphony of flavours is going to make that meal one you'll want to have again and again - and the same goes for your guests.
